In 2021, my New Year’s Resolution was to travel more and spend more time with loved ones. We can all imagine how my first resolution went, no travel plans apart from my home to the vaccination center. But I did manage to fulfill my second resolution, and it was well worth it! 2021 was the year I spent with my family and only grew to love and appreciate them more.
This resolution will continue through to 2022 as well. However, this time I will be focusing on my eye health as well. Our eye health is something that is often left out of new year’s resolutions lists. This is why we end up with vision problems, poor overall eye health and outdated eyewear styles. 2022 will be the year I start eye exercises and eye yoga. So won’t you join me on a quest to put eye care and eyewear style first?
New Year’s Resolutions 2022

#1 I Will Be Eye-conic!
That’s right! Out with the old and in with the new. That’s what the New Year is all about. And what better way to do this than trying on a new style be it an outfit, hairstyle or eyewear. Eyeglasses are the easiest way to give yourself a makeover. The frame you choose is an extension of your personality. Pops of color for the bold and brave, classic metals for the sophisticated and transparent tints for the underdogs.

#2 I Will Limit Screen Time
So many new shows, so little time. While we’re living in the golden age of entertainment it’s important not to lose sight of what it’s doing to our health. The harmful blue light emitted from digital screens plays havoc on our circadian rhythm. This in turn leads to sleepless nights, dry eye syndrome and other much more serious conditions. Apart from investing in a pair of blue blocking glasses, it’s also important to limit screen time. This is going to be a tough one to keep.

#3 I Will Not Forget Sunscreen (For The Eyes)
You’re probably wondering if there is even such a thing as sunscreen for your eyes? Sunglasses are in a sense sunscreen for your eyes. They protect your eyes from the harsh UV rays and sun damage. They also shield your eyes from dust, debris and pollution. Don’t cheap out on this accessory. Think of it as health insurance for your eyes. Eye protection is extremely important so ensure your sunglasses are 100 percent UV-protected and polarized.

#4 I Will Slow Down
Every now and then it’s good to slow down from this fast-paced life. Deep breaths; inhale peace, exhale chaos. Yoga and meditation are not only good for your mental wellbeing and overall health, but it’s also good for the eyes. We often take our eyes for granted, and before we know it we find our vision deteriorating. Eye exercises like blinking and eye yoga like palming are a lot more powerful than you think. #5 I Will Maintain An Eye Healthy Diet
While it’s always a good idea to eat healthy, there are certain foods and nutrients that are particularly good for eye health. Your addiction to multiple cups of coffee or chai needs to stop, the same goes for junk food. But don’t worry, here are some eye health tips to keep your eye health game strong.
Eye Health Tips:
- Include essential nutrients like antioxidants, vitamins A, C, D, and E, omega fatty acids and zinc in your diet.
- Skip the caffeine and opt for healthy juices and smoothies instead.
- Try the Mediterranean Diet for better eye health.
#6 I Will Go For An Annual Eye Exam
Preventive health checks are crucial. No two ways about it! Regular eye checkups have been known to detect eye conditions, sometimes even before symptoms appear. If you’re at risk of eye conditions, it’s best to get an eye examination every year. Don’t wait for a problem to arise, nip it in the bud before it gets a chance at winning.

#7 I Will Live Life To The Fullest!
With everything that is going on in the world, we could also use a little time to enjoy life. So after all the eye care and eyewear fashion is done, don’t forget to let loose and have a little fun! Travel, party, date, learn new things, meet new people because you only live once.
What are your New Year’s resolutions for 2022? We hope that whatever you choose to do in the year ahead, you do it with determination, grit and a whole lot of fun!
Happy New Year!
